My Project → ChatGPT generated children’s book in conjunction with AI image generated storyboard from MidJourney, then finally a 3D printed character from the story.
Using ChatGPT and a short prompt (“Can you please generate a children's book about a baby dinosaur who befriends a butterfly by the river and then they play by his mushroom house”), a full children’s book was formed after some minor tweaks. This ChatGPT generated story was the base for my MidJourney prompts to form a storyboard.
Through these images I then had ideas surrounding what my characters would look like. Keeping this in mind I went onto Thingiverse and found a 3D model which was able to be printed under “Creative Commons”. After finding this print it was imported into Cura and sliced into the correct settings for our Ultimaker 2+ Connect 3D printer. With a successful print complete overnight, my project is on the final stretch.
I enjoyed working on this project as it built on my passion for creative writing and storytelling as well as expanding on my long standing interest in programming and 3D printing. Through learning about these technologies I feel confident moving forward in this subject and am eager to learn more about tangible emergent media, specifically the 3D scanner and Arduino.
For our next task which is our Group project, my team has decided to generate Sublimation Prints on Biodegradable tote bags and then using the embroidering machine print affirmations surrounding Mental Health awareness over the top of our sublimation prints. These tangible emergent resources are different to the ones I have already experimented with in my Rapid Prototyping task, so I am looking forward to working with resources I have not worked with in the past. It will be a great opportunity to use my knowledge with MidJourney and ChatGPT to help my group generate the sublimation prints and text for the embroidery machine.
